Strange and interesting events that are taking place around the globe this weekend.

Over in London they are doing try outs for an all male cheerleading squad. It was attempted back in 2011, and didn’t work out too well so they are trying again in 2015

 

IN Switzerland it’s the international  balloon festival - hot air balloon enthusiasts from all over the world for a week-long series of demonstrations and competitions. For spectators, it’s quite a sight to look up into a sky crowded with colourful balloons drifting slowly over the mountains, particularly if there’s snow on the ground and the sky is blue.

There also a Chili Synthesizer Cook-Off in Chicago - The event tasks musicians with cooking a chili and then performing a sonic interpretation of their culinary creation on an analogue synth of their choosing.

Snow and Ice Festival China’s northern Heilóngjiang province may be cursed with one of the coldest climates in Asia, but its capital Haerbin has made the best of a bad thing with its International Ice and Snow Festival. Held in the depths of winter, the festival revolves around an amazing array of fanciful and elaborate ice sculptures, including re-creations of famous buildings and structures.
