Mary Poppins 2

I'm quite excited about this! Our family love Mary Poppins! According to goodhousekeeping.com, "everyone's favorite nanny is coming back to the silver screen: Entertainment Weekly reports that Disney is working on a brand-new Mary Poppins movie musical. Yes, everything old is new again.

The original Mary Poppins was based on just one book from P.L. Travers' series, and this movie will use the rest of the books as source material. It will be set 20 years after the first movie, during the Great Depression, and will feature Mary and the Banks family. Disney is specifically saying this isn't a sequel, but with the same characters and source material, it's hard to see it as anything but Mary Poppins 2.

Though it might be easy to brush this off as another Hollywood reboot, it has a great team behind it. The director is Rob Marshall, who brought Chicago and Into the Woods from Broadway to movie theaters, and the songwriters worked on Smash and Hairspray. And it has support from P.L. Travers' estate, and the writer behind earworms like "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

There's no word whether Julie Andrews or Dick Van Dyke will reprise their roles, but given the plot's 20-year time jump, it's unlikely it will make sense. Mary Poppins first hit theaters 51 years ago, in 1964. And sadly, Julie Andrews has been unable to sing the same way since a botched surgery. That leaves other actresses to fill her shoes. A few of our picks: Kristen Bell, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, and Anne Hathaway. "
