My family and I took a few days to get away and spend some time on the Garden Route. There are so many incredible stops on the route, which we tend to fly by on our way to Cape Town or to visit my dad when he was living in Knysna.
This time we took our time, and enjoyed it immensely. Fortunately my boys are very good travellers, and are happy to cruise along as long as they have good music to listen to.
Our first stop was the Big Tree. We then headed to Birds of Eden, which was an absolute highlight for me. It was R190.00 for an adult, and worth every single cent. I was amazed at the exquisite birds we saw, and the boys were enthralled.
We then went to the Elephant Sanctuary close to Knysna. The kids were a little afraid, but still had a great time.
Our overnight stay was at the Knysna Manor House, which was excellent value for money.
The following day began with a stop at the Railway Museum. My kids thought they were in heaven, and loved seeing all the old trains and vehicles. Our final stop for the day was the Cango Wildlife Ranch, and it brought back so many memories from when I was a child. Again, just a load of fun for kids the kids and adults.
We overnighted at De Oude Meul, which was lovely. The most beautiful gardens, filled with roses and beautiful flowers and trees. The grass was super green, and we enjoyed our relaxing evening. On our finaly day we stopped at the Cango Caves. A really incredible trip, which did our family the world of good.
