Apparently the new trend in New York is to sip your caffeine shot out of a bell pepper.
The new edible receptacle was introduced at Chelsea coffee house Crave.It after Italian master barista Ettore Diana stopped by to show the locals some of his signature drinks.
He served them up their frothy cappuccinos in hollowed-out yellow bell peppers.
Before you dismiss this as just another ridiculous foodie fad, NY Daily News’ Justin Rocket Silverman wrote of the crunchy veg cups: ‘Don’t knock this bell jar until you try it: the bitter kick of the coffee is perfectly balanced by the cool sweetness of the pepper.’
We can definitely see it working, which is good because you need some payoff for drinking out of a vegetable in public.
