When it comes to making the perfect cup of tea there are lots of us out there who think we have the ULTIMATE recipe.

But it has been revealed that we've actually all been getting it WRONG this whole time! And it's not so much about what we add but how we actually brew our cuppa that makes the difference.
According to science we should all be MICROWAVING our tea!
A study was conducted back in 2012 by Dr. Quan Vuong from the University of Newcastle, where he extracted and purified the main components of black and herbal teas.
The results showed that using a microwave to heat your tea actually activated up to 80 per cent of caffeine, theanine and polyphenol, which can treat your body to some AMAZING benefits.
Theanine is an essential amino acid known for its relaxation abilities, polyphenol is an antioxidant that has been linked to the prevention of degenerative diseases and of course caffeine is perfect for a little pick-me-up in the morning.
In other words, scientists are claiming that this simple trick can give you the healthiest and tastiest cup of tea that you've ever had!
All you need to do is place hot water in your cup with your teabag of choice, give it a zap in the microwave for 30 seconds on low and let it sit for a minute.
So forget spending lots of moolah on those skinny tea's that all the celebrities endorse on instagram...turns out all you need is a simple household item.
