The welcome rains which fell over large parts of the Eastern Cape coastal belt and adjacent interior this week have had little impact on the level of Nelson Mandela Bay's main supply dams.
According to the latest figures released by the municipality on Thursday morning, the average combined capacity of the Metro's main supply dams is currently at 29.43%.
That's marginally up from the previous combined average of 29.40% taken on Monday.
The NMB Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Engineering, Andile Lungisa, is appealing to residents to remain vigilant and report water wastage.
He says in a statement that the municipality will, in turn, continue its efforts to conserve water to the best of its ability.
Lungisa says the updates and predictions from the South African Weather Services paint a bleak picture and it is therefore imperative for everyone to comply with the stringent water restrictions that are currently in place.
