Tributes are pouring in for a traditional healer following his brutal murder on a farm in EL

Tributes are pouring in for a traditional healer from East London who was brutally murdered on a farm this weekend.

The 40-year-old Anele Hoyana was assaulted and killed by his 45-year-old friend Fritz Joubert.

The drama unfolded on Joubert's farm during the early hours of Saturday morning.

He posted a video on his Facebook page where he referred to himself as "The chosen one" and to Hoyana as Satan.

The two later got into a heated argument when Joubert allegedly assaulted Hoyana with his fists and the butt of his rifle.

Hoyana, who was temporarily living on the farm with his wife and two children, sustained severe head injuries and died on the scene.

Police Spokesperson Captain Hazel Mqala said when police arrived on the scene the farm owner (Joubert) allegedly made threatening remarks and at that stage had taken the friends'  (Hoyana's) children hostage and locked them in the bathroom.

Police managed to free the children but then Joubert allegedly attacked a policeman and a shot was fired in self-defence.

The policeman, who suffered a fractured nose and jaw, shot and killed Joubert.

The matter is now being investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

It is alleged that Joubert was training with Hoyana to become a traditional healer.
