PE quad biker arrested for allegedly assaulting elderly man

The Port Elizabeth flying squad has arrested a 26-year old man for allegedly assaulting an elderly man in Lorraine on Friday afternoon.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg says a 67-year old man confronted a man on a quad bike for driving recklessly in the suburb.

She says the elderly man was severely assaulted and he went to Walmer police station in the evening to report the incident, as he required immediate medical attention due to the nature of his injuries.

The police opened a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on behalf of the complainant.

Janse van Rensburg says the quad biker was arrested at his residence in Colleen Glen on Sunday morning, and he will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court on Monday.
