Horror accident on R72 claims third victim


The death toll in Sunday's horror accident on the R72 has risen to three.

This after in injured man succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Port Elizabeth.

Police Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says the names of the victims will only be released once the next of kin have been informed.

The incident took place after 2.30 pm on the R72 10kms outside Port Alfred towards Port Elizabeth.

According to an eye witness who was travelling towards Kenton on Sea transporting students in a bus,  a white Jaguar sedan travelling at a very high speed started swerving across the road.

The driver of the bus managed to avoid a head-on collision but was hit at the right rear by the Jaguar.

The witness then noticed in his rear view mirror the Jaguar colliding head-on with a Maroon Mercedes Benz.

A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
