US actor and entertainer Bill Cosby has been sentenced to three to ten years in a state penitentiary for sexual assault, Montgomery County District Attorney in the US state of Pennsylvania said in a statement on Tuesday.
In April, Cosby was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.

After the conviction, Cosby, 81, was placed under house arrest awaiting sentencing. The defense team sought house arrest given Cosby’s age and the fact that he has impaired vision.
The prosecutors asked for five to ten years in prison.
Cosby was accused by dozens of women who came forward with allegations of him being involved in sexual assault against them.
