The inimitable 74-year-old Rod Stewart has ended the year on a high note by becoming the oldest solo male artist to have a number one album in the UK.
His 10th chart-topping album, You're In My Heart, was released last month and has steadily risen to the top spot, beating out Robbie Williams and The Who.
Upon receiving the honour, the superstar said on Instagram: 'A new government and a new number one for Sir Rod. 'Thank you once again to my legions of fans who I will never take for granted.
'Bless you all and a Merry Christmas. Well done Robbie, well done Boris, no hard feelings Pete Townshend! - Rod xxx'
