The movie, Knuckle City, shot in East London, has been selected as South Africa’s official submission for the International Feature Film category at next year’s Oscars.
The film had its international premiere at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival which is currently underway at the TIFF Bell Lightbox cultural centre in downtown Toronto.
Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, took to Twitter to congratulate the team.

Knuckle City is described as a hard-hitting crime film which, while rooted in South African culture, carries with it a universal message.
