Three men who allegedly conned a teacher out of her pension money have been arrested in Pinetown.
Police Spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the 57-year-old victim opened a case in January after being conned out of R1.8 million rand.
The suspects aged 28 and 32 first asked her to pay them an amount of R20 000 so that they could provide her with "cleansing water" for her and her boyfriend so that she could get married.
In May, her boyfriend advised her to resign for her job as a teacher so that they could use her pension money to start a business.
The victim resigned and gave the money to her boyfriend who then disappeared.
The suspects were arrested on Monday night with the help of community members.
The three were looking for a place to rent when someone recognised them.
An identification parade will be held at the Durban police station on Tuesday.
Police appealed to other people who were also scammed to come forward.
Several teachers from the Eastern Cape were also conned with a similar modus operandi since 2016.
