Here is the first update of the expedition!
The team left Durban on Monday, 9 January and after 5 flights and over 30 hours of travel time, finally landed in Punta Arenas (the southern most city in Chile) on Tuesday, 10 January.
While they arrived safely and on time, unfortunately their baggage – with all their specialised expedition kit – didn’t! It’s been a very apprehensive 24 hours for the six-man team, but with lots of local help, they finally received their luggage around lunchtime today (our time – Chile time is five hours behind South Africa). The guys say they are already feeling the cold as Punta Arenas is windy and the temperature is around 9 degrees Celcius.
Today the guys are in a safety briefing and doing the final checks on all their kit.
