Oscar tweets for the first time in five months

Cape Town - Feathers are flying in the twittersphere after Oscar Pistorius took to the social network for the first time in 5 months, with the pro- and against camps equally vocal. 

Pistorius shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013. He maintains he thought she was an intruder. The State, however, says that is was premeditated murder.

Earlier on Sunday Pistorius tweeted three times. The first tweet was an image of Psalms 34:18 - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.

The second tweet was a picture of the athlete with various children with disabilities.

His last tweet of the day was an excerpt from Viktor Frankl's memoirs of the Holocaust.
