13-year-old Charlize van Zyl became the youngest South African to win the world chess federation title of Woman International Master last week.
Charlize, of Collegiate Girls High School in Port Elizabeth, won the women's division of the FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs) Africa zone's 4.3 championships in Gaborone, Botswana, last week.
