Work 4 A Living

It’s easy to feel hopeless and anxious about wide-scale unemployment and the great need in our world – we are here to tell you that it does not have to be that way!

The Work 4 A Living team is a group of people who decided to take action, rather than give in to hopelessness. This takes the form of a job and business training model that is easily replicable and can be self-sustainable. The training is available to all and emphasizes practical and soft skills that are essential to thriving in the working and business world.

We are a registered non-profit organization based in South Africa, but we have centers that operate in many countries around the world. Our dream is to see a center in every town and city in the world where there is poverty and need.

We bring hope to the hopeless by equipping and empowering the unemployed to become economically active by teaching employability and entrepreneurial skills to support themselves and their families. After this, we then link them with skills and opportunities so that they can break the cycle of poverty in their lives.

W4AL has, through various initiatives, helped over 30 000 young people since its inception in 2007 to find employment, start businesses, get upskilled, or generally change their worldview so that they can live a better life in a world where there is such great poverty and need.

What we do

In 2007, we started planting WORK 4 A LIVING training centers where the unemployed could come and be fully equipped to join the workforce or start a business. We saw that without networks, family help, or knowledge of how to pursue a job or career, many people simply did not know how to progress and thrive.

But we don’t just believe in handing out jobs or funds to start businesses; we believe in true empowerment. To us, this means not only educating people with skills that are valuable, but equipping them with mindsets that empower them to own their circumstances, thrive in their daily work, and have hope for the future.

Two of our current projects include :

W4AL Job Readiness program - our flagship program at our W4AL Centres that gets people working and gets people promoted! Past W4AL graduates facilitate in many Centres. A global business Bootcamp that teaches how to start and more importantly, to grow a business. Now presented in 18 countries -hundreds of businesses started through this program.

E-Cafe - Computer hubs where students can book a seat, have access to wifi, a computer, and a broad bouquet of skills to complete to improve their employability

A list of our needs :
