Ubuntu Pathways

Ubuntu Pathways is intent on breaking the cycle of poverty that continues to impact the most vulnerable amongst us - our children. As an NPO we wish to ensure that every child gets to enjoy all that they deserve – not just some days but every day.

Operating out of a state-of-the-art campus in the heart of Port Elizabeth’s townships, we provide transformative health, education, and household stability services to children and families in our community.

Over the past six months, the COVID-19 pandemic has been the cause of an unprecedented crisis in Port Elizabeth’s townships. This continues to be one of the most challenging periods in Ubuntu’s history. In March, we pivoted our programming and launched an Emergency COVID-19 Response Strategy to deploy urgent services and protect our community’s most vulnerable. During the following months, as the depth and breadth of the crisis became clear, it became essential to increase both the scope and duration of our response.

Since March, we have developed a massive food and health operation that is deploying rapid relief and saving lives and livelihoods. This includes providing food security to 30,000 individuals across the townships, PPE and capacity building support to 27 community institutions, and a variety of case management services to vulnerable groups.

COVID-19 Crisis Response: We are providing food security support to families across the townships; PPE distribution to local hospitals, clinics, shelters, schools and soup kitchens; remote education, and case management support to our clients, including counselling and home stability services. Job Skills Training: We provide vocational training and placement support to non-university-tracked youth in Port Elizabeth’s townships.
