The Tree of Joy Port Elizabeth

The Tree of Joy is an initiative that aims to provide a Christmas gift to those in Port Elizabeth who otherwise would not receive one.

The project started 30 years ago in Cape Town and moved to the Eastern Cape about 15 years ago. The project is run by 3 Rotary Clubs in Port Elizabeth who in turn liaise with approximately 60 charities to assist with finding almost 2200 gifts for those who are either destitute, handicapped or in places of safety.

Feel free to drop by Greenacres Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth to contribute in person at The Tree’s spot, or take a card (or more) to purchase a Christmas gift for someone in need.

The Tree and Wrapping Station will officially open on Monday, 2 December at Greenacres Shopping Centre.

When you take a gift card, please ensure your gift is returned within 5 days, and no later than 19 December.

All gifts will be delivered to the respective charities by 21 or 22 December, spreading joy just in time for the festive season!

Members of the public can help by sponsoring the gift on any card/cards. They can either do this by purchasing and wrapping the gift themselves and returning it to the Tree or making a pledge online to purchase one or more of the 2200 gifts that will need to be found for those in need or making a simple donation.
