The recently launched Andrew Ziehl Foundation is dedicated to supporting and empowering the brave people who have taken the challenging steps necessary to remove themselves permanently from an abusive environment, and held their abuser accountable.
Our main need is financial assistance so that we can provide for the specific needs of each individual case. However, we would welcome vouchers from food outlets, training courses for upskilling, psychological assistance (sessions for specific individuals), work clothes, anything that a person starting their life over might require.
Two fundraisers are in the pipeline — a concert and a golf day — for July 23 and September 1, respectively.

About Lindsay Ziehl :
Retirement after more than 18 years of helping abused women and children was not to be for Gqeberha activist Lindsay Ziehl, who felt compelled to find an outlet for her grief when her son, Andrew, died in Australia in 2020.
Unable to say goodbye to him or attend his funeral due to Covid-19 restrictions, Ziehl made the decision to honor Andrew by starting a foundation in his name.
Ziehl is well known in the Eastern Cape for her indefatigable dedication to the fight against domestic violence - she was a manager of the Yokhuselo Haven, a place of safety for abused women and children, for many years
Ziehl has drawn on the support of several highly respected women in the community to serve on the foundation's board - they include Janine Lee, Anna Tait, Kathy Strasters, and Sharon Jessop.
