Support World Rare Diseases Day - February 29

#1in15 South Africans are affected by rare diseases - that's the equivalent of 1 player in every rugby team!

Whilst uniquely they may be rare, with more than 7000 known rare diseases, collectively they are more common than anticipated.

At Rare Diseases South Africa, we’re doing our best to support those 4.1 million South Africans who have been, or will be, diagnosed with a rare disease or congenital disorder in their lifetime.

Our mission is to ensure a better tomorrow for all those impacted advocating for a better tomorrow for the #1in15 South Africans impacted by rare diseases and congenital disorders,  including greater recognition, support, improved health service and better overall quality of life.

We’re calling on your business to unite with the #1in15 South Africans afflicted by a rare disease. Rare Disease Day is upon us, and we want your company to #ShareYourColours with the world!

Colours can speak louder than words. Colour has no limits and neither does Rare. Every one of us has special qualities. Simply share your colour with the world and get involved with us.

About Rare Disease Day

Rare Disease Day, celebrated every year on the 28th of February (or 29 in leap years like this year)—the rarest day of the year, is the globally-coordinated movement on rare diseases, working towards equity in social opportunity, healthcare, and access to diagnosis and therapies for people living with a rare disease.

Sign up now for our Rare Disease Day initiative and purchase stickers for R10 each for your staff to wear on the 29th of February. We will also have t-shirts, hoodies, mousepads, and other great merchandise available!

Without your voice and your support, Rare Diseases South Africa cannot advocate and provide care for the #1in15 who are diagnosed with a rare disease or those who provide care to the millions who remain undiagnosed. We need you to share your Rare colour.
