Charl Leslie catches up with fundraiser Nicole Grobler : (Charl was standing in for Kaycee Rossouw)
St Francis Hospice was established in 1984 by a group of committed individuals with a shared vision to provide care and support for those living with life-limiting illnesses such as Cancer, HIV/AIDS or Motor Neurone disease. This vision became a reality in 1986, initially through a home care service and in 1988, backed by the generosity of the community, a small inpatient unit was opened. The latter was closed in 2005, due to financial constraints & emphasis placed on caring for patients in their own homes.
July 1997 saw the establishment of a rural outreach in the Kouga area, when a branch of Hospice opened in Humansdorp, offering care to patients as far afield as Tsitsikamma. In 1999 an outreach into Uitenhage and the surrounding areas commenced.
We provide palliative care to patients and give care and support to their families.
This year we are one of the proud beneficiaries of the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, presented by Isuzu Motors South Africa. The walk is happening on Saturday 26 October - please go to www.algoafm.co.za, click on Big Walk and find out how you can be a part of this epic event!
