Sole Sisters

Lukhanyiso Village will provide holistic residential care for 500 vulnerable and orphan children with the core vision to RESCUE a child, RESTORE a life, RAISE a leader and RELEASE a star. The children will be placed into a family environment, with a trained foster mother, where they receive unconditional love, spiritual discipleship, care and nurturing and where all their physical needs are met. If these children are equipped with essential moral values and life skills, they will grow up to be a generation that will influence positive change in South Africa, Africa and the world.

Our  top 3 projects :

Lukhayiso Village has been a dream of Lara Kruiskamp, who is a Sole Sister,  for 7 years. In May 2011, she heard about LIV Village in Kwa-Zulu Natal, a real solution to so many of South Africa’s challenges and her heart was captured. From that time, she has  dreamt of building a LIV Village in her home town of Grahamtown. In order to start to raise funds and awareness, she packed up her successful corporate career, sold her home and ran a marathon on all 7 continents in the world in 1 year to raise funds to buy land.

She needed 80 acres of land to build a village for 500 orphan and vulnerable children in the Eastern Cape. From April 2013 to March 2014, she completed all 7 marathons and had raised R200 000. She knew this was not enough to buy 80 acres of land, but this did not stop her from looking for the perfect piece of land! She searched high and low and finally found the perfect land, but unfortunately it was not for sale. So she boldly contacted the owner and shared the vision of the village! She said that she had a R200 000 deposit and that she would raise the balance of the funds! Two weeks later, the owner contacted her and said that he and his Board of Directors from MAKANA BRICK loved the vision and the dream and they DONATED 80 ACRES OF LAND!

Sole Sisters are helping Lara raise this money to make this dream a reality

A list of our needs :

To pursue the sub-division of the land, the rezoning and the Environmental Impact Assessment. The costs for this process are estimated to be about R150 000. We would love Algoa Cares support for this project, any amount towards these costs would be so greatly appreciated! We have already secured a sponsor to build the first skills development centre, which we hope to start building early 2019 as soon at the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and rezoning is completed. So we now need to secure funding for the land rezoning and EIA.

A success story :

The Sole Sisters  is a group of 11 ordinary woman from Grahamstown who ran 110km from the 20-22 April 2018 from Tarkastad to Bedford to raise money for Lukhanyiso Village.
