Take a listen to Kaycee's chat with Kelly Rose Biscoe and find out how you can support this worthy NPO.
Shattering Shackles aims to provide a support structure for, and growth of existing collaborative projects targeting Trafficking in Persons, Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Offences. This includes investigations, reporting, referrals and resources that would lead to the potential arrest and prosecution of perpetrators and the rescue and protection of victims
Established by Chantal Coetzee, this NPO is fighting against Trafficking in Persons and aims to see perpetrators imprisoned and their captives set free. This most heinous organized crime is destroying millions of lives every year, not only through sexual exploitation but also in forced labour, child labour, servitude, the harvesting and selling of body parts, baby farming and all forms of slavery.
Services provided by ShatteringShackles include: • The gathering of data and partnering with law enforcement, social workers and prosecutors, so that victims can be rescued, and perpetrators arrested. • Training of police and social workers helps them to recognize indicators and potential trafficking cases, as well as the relevant laws, regulations, and directives in handling such cases. • Age-appropriate awareness and the Protective Behaviours Program run in schools, make children less vulnerable to being trafficked. • Public awareness and education get the community involved, increase the reporting of potential cases and reduce risk to individuals.
Our needs include: Volunteers to assist with fundraising projects and public relations and donations are always welcome.
