This non- profit organization is a no kill animal shelter which practices a system whereby every dog that is admitted has a sure chance of life – they call this system PRO-LIFE. This means that they will only euthanize on the advice of a veterinarian. They rescue, rehabilitate and provide care and shelter for abused and abandoned domestic pets, of which there are plenty in Nelson Mandela Bay. They also render support and veterinary assistance to the domestic pets of genuinely impoverished people. The Save-A-Pet staff are a dedicated and passionate team who constantly strive to find good homes for the pets in their care. An essential part of what they do is to educate the public in how to take better care of their animals, with a strong emphasis on the need for sterilisation.

Below is a picture of little Evelyn who was rescued from the Missionvale Informal Settlement. As  you can see, when she arrived at Save-A-Pet ,she had bite wounds all over her little face and terrible mange. With the right medical treatment, much love and dedication , Evelyn was nursed back to health but is still waiting for her  'furever' home! NEEDS LIST : Save-A-Pet

• The staff are in need of work shirts. We would ideally like to supply each staff member with 2. There are 10 staff members. We would need golf shirts and have the Save a Pet Logo embroided on them.

• We would like to have a shelter made for each kennel to protect our dogs from the extreme weather.

 • We are in need of shadecloth.

• We would like to repair/tar/pave the road leading into Save a Pet.

• Another dream is to have a nice excersize area for the dogs to run and play. We do have areas that are being used at the moment but they need to be cleaned out properly and we want to make it more pleasurable and enjoyable experience.

• Building needs painting. Interior and Exterior.

• We launched Fido's Christmas Gift (Christmas For The Animals) last year. This project aims to give each dog/cat a pressie. Each pressie must contain the following: Blanket, Food, Toy & something useful. We will run this project every year in November/December.

• We are always in desperate need of dog and cat food (both pellets and tinned food). We have many older dogs and cats who have missing or no teeth and can only eat soft foods.

• Another need to flea and tick medication – they are extremely expensive and not many people can always afford to buy them and donate so this does put a huge strain on our finances.

• We need kennels – new or old – as long as they in semi good condition

. • Wooden Pallets – preferably ones with the flat base as we use them to elevate the kennels off the ground so when it rains no water gushes into the kennels.

• Half Shells – new or old – if old just with no cracks or holes. We give these to our dogs to splash in during the summer as they really suffer with the heat. Our aim is to have one for each run. They would also love some trees to plant as shade for the dogs to lie under in these runs.

• SAVE-A-PET SPONSOR A KENNEL Save a Pet has a shortage of Kennels therefore Cannibal Glass are trying to help by building Kennels for the coming winter. Cannibal Glass make use of wooden pallets to build it each Kennel and want to ask individuals / companies to please support this campaign and sponsor a recycled kennel to a Fury Friend in need. Cannibal Glass take pride in the Kennels they build and treat them to last at least 10 years. Your Name / company name will placed on the Kennel that u sponsor. We can either use a simple and plain wooden kennel that will be treated so it can last outside and not rain in, or they can do a more fancy type of kennel that will be painted with a white shabby chick look and a clear glaze coat over (also treated at the bottom so it does not rot) SMALL: Plain: R450 or Fancy: R550 MEDIUM: Plain: R600 or Fancy: R750 LARGE: Plain: R800 or Fancy: R1200 Cannibal Glass will send u a photo of your sponsor and will also deliver it FREE of charge to Save-A-Pet.
