Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre for children with disabilities

Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre for children with disabilities was initiated by Genevieve Hendricks in 2008 and is located in the Northern areas of Port Elizabeth. There are high levels of unemployment and poverty in the area according to Genevieve, the founder and Director of this center. At present serving the needs of approximately 45 children with different disabilities within the Nelson Mandela Metro.

Miracle Kids is run by Genevieve Hendricks, a woman who is passionate about her community and especially about supporting children with disabilities. Thus far more than 80 disabled children have left their wheelchairs and regained full mobility, dropped their diapers and started to speak and have been successfully integrated into schools via the Department of Education Special Needs in Port Elizabeth.

I simply love them and even when times are tough I will make a plan to give these unfortunate special children the best that I possibly can.Genevieve has a background in psychology and nursing, is a Cerebral palsy facilitator and has been exposed to several other training programs via other institutions of learning. Genevieve has kept the centre going on donations from the goodwill of the community. She is pro-active and has a good sense of the centre's management and administrative needs.

TOP THREE PROJECTS

1.Training of care givers:

Develop careworkers understanding of Cerebral palsy and how it affects the child's ability to move and their everyday functioning.

2.Training of parents

Parents feel more empowered and equipped to cope with their child's  needs, thus helping them during development,as well as to take our programs to the home environment so they could assist in their community when faced with disabilities.

3.Therapy sessions with a multidisciplinary team of professional therapists.

Continuous development of a conducive environment in order to improve the quality of care provided at the centre to bring about successful outcomes with regards to rehabilitation, stimulation and integration.

Meet Laeeq....a little boy who was admitted to the Miracle Kids programme four years ago as a paralysed baby, without speech and on a nappy. He has define all odds and is at present attending school at Meryvale special school. He regained his mobility, started speaking and dropped his nappy at age five...there after he was placed at school..At present Laeeq is a healthy friendly little boy who remains the pride and joy of this beautiful road I walk on...a Miracle through God's Amazing Grace...and indeed what our slogan entails: "hope sees the invisible and achieves the impossible"
