South Africa is home to millions of orphans and vulnerable children – at Kin Culture we believe ‘family’ is the answer to this national crisis, we believe that healthy families are the blueprint for a healthy society.
For Algoa Country, we must mention that we are active in the Garden Route, and are always looking to extend our footprint into new territory.
We believe in family in its most beautiful, expansive, inclusive, and redemptive sense. We believe in family where guests become relatives, where homes are opened and love and burdens are shared. This bigger, more beautiful picture of the family is what the church can offer the world – a family of families to vulnerable children
As such, our mission is to build and support a community of loving, generous families to provide homes for vulnerable children.
Families are the best answer for a child in need. And a home environment is the best basis for healing and a healthy future.
This is where our incredible Kin Families play such an important role, opening their homes and hearts to children in need.
Parenting has never been an easy job, but it is certainly one of the most meaningful. And foster parenting has its own particular challenges, but also its own particular rewards. Because the situation is trauma-sensitive, we do our utmost to equip and prepare our prospective parents – helping them navigate the admin, the system, and the emotional highs and lows. This preparation and support equip parents to provide long-term care and much-needed stability for vulnerable children.
PARTNERSHIPS
We partner with local churches and build relationships to be able to recruit more foster families and inform people about the need that there is.
RELATIONSHIPS
We are well connected within the sector of social development – with both state and non-governmental organizations – and able to connect foster care families with the relevant service providers, check-in points and helpful partners.
PLACEMENTS
After assisting prospective parents in completing the due diligence and meeting the statutory requirements, we help connect them to children in need.
Recruitment of families - screening and training of foster families.
We also provide integrated family services and family strengthening services. These are professional social work services that we offer to foster and safety parents holistically, to keep the child in placement stable and well cared for creating awareness.
We advocate on large platforms to educate the public on the devastating reality of how many children are in danger due to the lack of homes available to care for them. We also bring awareness on the realities of foster and safety care.
