Khulasande Sports Development (KSD) is a non-profit organization formed with a vision of developing young athletes from previously disadvantaged communities, through providing opportunities to participate in well-organised and supervised recreational programmes.
By adopting a holistic approach to the development of the children, Khulasande Sports Development not only focuses on the athletic aspect of their development but also places a strong emphasis on academic development as well as teaching life skills using sport.
Our main programme for 2018 is the Khulasande Active Kids Programme which places emphasis on general sports activity as well as providing coaching clinics in South Africa's traditional sports such as Athletics, Soccer, Netball and Rugby. We have eight beneficiary schools in and around Nelson Mandela Bay featuring primary schools in Motherwell, Uitenhage, Kirkwood and Addo as well as in and around Grahamstown featuring primary schools from Grahamstown, Alicedale and Riebeek East which are visited weekly by our team of dedicated coaches.
In addition to the coaching clinics, we provide our beneficiaries with the opportunity to participate in sports festivals and athletics competitions ensuring that they gain maximum exposure to training and competing in their chosen sports.
Khulasande Sports Development has formed a meaningful partnership with Rhodes University's Human Kinetics and Ergonomics Department, Virtucomp and eWaste Technologies Africa have generously sponsored KSD's entire office with computer and IT related facilities.
The goal for the Khulasande Sports Development team is clear and concise, which is to unearth raw talent in our rural and previously disadvantaged communities, nurture and give exposure to the rough diamonds of the Eastern Cape. It is for this reason that KSD is calling on all stakeholders to come on board and support our initiatives, through funding and resources. This will allow the projects to expand and be of assistance to more underprivileged young sportspeople, who have the potential to make a career out of their chosen sport.
