Helenvale Centre of Hope is a Non-Profit Organisation NPO 188-472. The Helenvale Centre of Hope is an after-school drop-in-centre that provides quality programmes for children from the ages of 4-18 living in Helenvale and Gelvandale, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The Centre is concentrating on improving our children’s education standard, to support children in beating the stigma of poverty through school support programmes, violence prevention programmes, drug prevention programmes, HIV and AIDS prevention programmes, and other programmes of similar nature.
The centre provides one meal a day, We provide food for children after school, so that even those who have no meals at their homes can have something in their stomachs.
Objectives
To bring life and hope to children through empowerment and education, moral values, arts, singing and sports.
To reach our vision we will offer a safe and secure space to the children from the age of 4 to 18 years living in Helenvale, Gelvandale and surrounding areas.
To support children in discovering and improving their skills, talents, and competences through a variety of sports and other programmes.
To support children in beating the stigma of poverty through school support programmes, violence prevention programmes, drug prevention programmes, HIV and AIDS prevention programmes, and other programmes of similar nature.
To support children socially and emotionally in their struggles with life through psychosocial counselling, life skills trainings, and other trainings of similar nature.
To serve the basic needs of children by providing one meal a day, clothing, and medical care. We provide food for children/youth after school, so that even those who have no meals at their homes can have something in their stomachs.

You want to led a helping hand? We want dedicated volunteers, people who has a passion for children, who can make after-care fun, exciting and inspiring.
Volunteering
When we started, we started with 21 volunteers caring for 52 children.
However, they do not receive any regular salary or stipend. All of them work passionately serving the needs of the children and adolescents with all their strength and resources.
The more volunteers there are, the more programmes we can run and the better we can serve the children and their very individual needs. Teaching them dance routines, helping them with their schoolwork and homework, preparing meals, or just engaging them in any sports or games - there is a huge variety of things and actitivities you can get involved in at HCH.
We want every child to grow up in an environment of safety where it can make its experiences and develop. Maybe, you have your own ideas and talents you can offer to HCH Simply talk to us and we will find a way to get you involved.
Donating
Unfortunately, you say, Helenvale Centre of Hope is too far from your home? You do not have time to go and work with these children? That does not matter much. We are always looking for those who support the centre donating money or providing us with any in-kind donations. Food, clothes, toys and stationary for the children, or equipment for our diverse programmes (sports, arts & culture, education) are always needed and much welcome.
