Community Chest of the Eastern Cape

The Community Chest is a non-profit organization that has played a central role in the welfare sector since 1952. Over the past 69 years the Community Chest spent working with communities, it has become an innovative solutions hub for all donor's interests. Our donors consist of corporate, foundations, individual investors, trusts, and estates. We pride ourselves on good governance and focus on ethical and responsible use of donor funding.  We understand corporate social investment and managing private and corporate philanthropy. For us that means, vetting and applying due diligence to the NGOs who are compliant, advising you which to support and why. Monitoring and evaluating their services and ultimately conducting impact assessments on your behalf to ensure that every Rand spent, makes the difference intended. Last year we assisted over 200 beneficiary organizations. Our focus areas are Education, Health, Skills Development, and Community Development.  At a time of a very uncertain economy threatening the stability of our country, South African businesses and private sector entities are increasingly searching for partnerships based on that all-important factor:  TRUST!

Our current projects :

Winter Woolly Drive: Winter Woolly Drive has become a beacon of hope during the winter months for many underprivileged citizens in our community. THIS YEAR'S DRIVE STARTS ON 1ST JUNE!

Vegetable/ Feeding Garden Projects: Community Chest plays a vital role in feeding the hungry. We empower and equip our soup kitchens to grow their own vegetable gardens so that they can provide the poor within their communities with nutritional meals.

Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”  Martin Luther King Jr.
