CMR East London

CMR East London is a designated child protection organisation and accredited adoption service provider.  We started serving children and families in East London in 1955.

Our services to children and their families include prevention and early intervention programmes in an attempt to lower the rates of abuse and neglect on our children and to break the cycle of violence in families and to reduce the impact of adverse childhood experiences on children as they grow and develop into adolescence and adulthood.

Our services include statutory services which refer to the legal process in terms of the Children’s Act (No. 38 of 2005) where children who are at risk are temporarily removed and placed in alternative care and adoption services where children find and are permanently placed in their forever family.  We have a dedicated team of 27 staff members.

  • Individuals and corporates no longer having money to donate to good causes as they face job loss and bankruptcy themselves
  • Extensive delays in the processing of NPO subsidy payments placing huge financial strain on the organisation
  • Biological parents of children in alternative care not being able to have supervised visits with their children
  • Increase in community members requiring food aid
  • Extensive delays in children’s court proceedings resulting in a backlog in applications for foster care grants
  • Unexpected costs related to PPE as we have to ensure the safety of clients and staff.
  • Social workers at risk whilst doing home visits and attended to alleged abuse cases.

Despite the unprecedented times, we find ourselves in we will continue to support vulnerable children and families.  We have an unfailing belief and passion for what is possible. Together we can create a ripple of hope.
