We are a residential care facility for people with mental disabilities. We offer accommodation which includes laundry and cleaning, three meals a day, nursing assistance and caregiving assistance as well as transport to all necessary health appointments.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic is having a financial and operational effect on us as we have no doubt it is having on most NPO’s in South Africa and the rest of the world.
To help keep our residents safe we have been transporting our staff to and from work which has increased our petrol expenditure dramatically. We also have the extra expenses of PPE which is difficult to keep up with when you are struggling to pay the usual expenses. We also recently had to go into quarantine because 3 of our residents tested positive which left us with only 5 staff members.
Our needs are as follows – we would be extremely grateful for assistance with the following.
Maintenance :
Electrical renovation: we need to make repairs and maintenance to our electrical wiring in order to get a new electrical certificate
Building renovation: our building is old and there is a lot of maintenance and painting that needs to be done to get the building looking nice.
List of needs :
Any building materials, paint, etc that can be used to repair and maintain our building.
Beds and bedding
Food
Arts and crafts for our Arts and Crafts facility
Wool and material for our sewing room
