What we do :
Our main objective is to provide care and counselling to amputees and their families, preferably starting before the amputation takes place and continuing for as long as needed afterwards.
Our secondary objective is to procure sponsorship for the purchase of prosthetics and walking aids for amputees who don’t have medical aids and are not in a financial position to meet the cost of the devices.
The biggest impact COVID-19 has had on us is that we have been unable to do any face-to-face counselling with amputees or their families since the lockdown commenced
Our current projects include :
Raising funds for below-knee prosthetics for Michael Petzer (from Port Elizabeth) and David Bakada (from Port Alfred).
Raising funds for a new mechanical knee and the upgrading of both young Siphosethu Ncandana’s legs (from KwaNobuhle).
A list of our needs:
Cash, for the purchasing of prosthetic limbs and ongoing maintenance thereto.
Good gently used walking aids (prosthetic limbs, walkers, crutches, walking sticks, etc.), wheelchairs, portable commodes, bedpans, urinal bottles, etc.
