ALGOA FM BLOODLINE DAY 2016 is in YOUR hands

The 19th annual Algoa FM Bloodline Day is taking place on 13 July 2016 and you can be part of this great initiative, by donating a unit of blood. 

The target for this year is to collect 800 units of blood to help alleviate the notorious blood shortages this time of year.  Participating Blood Donor Centres will operate from 10am to 6pm and every donor will be treated to the famous doughnuts associated with this special day, kindly sponsored by Pick ?n Pay.

The South African National Blood Service, SANBS, celebrates July as Mandela Month and encourages the public to use part of their 67 minutes towards donating blood. 

Stay tuned to Algoa FM on 13 July 2016 for regular updates on the progress of collecting 800 units in one day.  Blood saves lives and ultimately creates new futures for those receiving it. 

No healthcare system can function efficiently without a stable supply of safe blood.  It is nothing short of a miracle that vital aspects of healthcare are in the hands of ordinary blood donors who selflessly donate their blood to improve the lives of complete strangers.

A person can donate blood every 56 days and a single unit of blood can be separated into three different components that can help save 3 lives.  People between 16 and 65 years of age, who weigh more than 50 kg, are in good health and most importantly, lead a sexually safe lifestyle, can donate blood.
