Police have identified the security guard who was found dead at the Newton Park Swimming Pool on Monday.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says 45-year-old Monde Qheru was found floating in the pool.
She says a female guard on duty heard a noise on the opposite side of the pool where Qheru was seated, but since it was dark inside she contacted her supervisor.
Naidu says when police arrived they found Qheru in the pool.
She says there were no signs of a break-in and nothing was taken from the premises.
An inquest docket was opened for investigation.
The SA Swimming Championships, taking place at Newton park Swimming Pool, wrapped up on Monday.
