Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after a VW City Golf went off the road and landed in the water early on Thursday morning.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the couple, who are from Uitenhage, veered off the John Tallant Road and went over the rocks, landing on Brighton Beach.
She says the 59-year-old driver sustained injuries to his face and back while the 59-year-old female passenger injured her leg.
Naidu says it is unclear what led to the accident and police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
The incident was captured on CCTV camera.
According to BesMed Emergency Medical Services who responded to the scene, the accident was as a result of a medical issue.
