Two in court for PE man's murder

Two suspects appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrate's Tuedsay for the alleged murder of a man in Newton Park man in January.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that 23-year-old Brandon Crouse and 22-year-old Romeo Draai, were denied bail during their court appearance.

She said they were arrested in Bethelsdorp in March for the murder of 51-year-old Kobus Jonker.

Naidu said Jonker was found with multiple stab wounds at his flat in Newton Park Port Elizabeth early in January.

"His body was found by a neighbour who became suspicious after returning from work later in the afternoon.  The neighbour alleged that when he left for work in the morning, the deceased door and garage was open and when he returned in the afternoon it was still the same hence peaking his suspicion," Naidu said.

She said Jonker lived alone and it is believed that he had company in his flat on January 8.

Naidu said forensic evidence linked the suspects to the crime scene.

Crouse and Draai will be back in court again on 10 April.
